About Me Dr. Samba Sowe is a Renewable Energy Technology expert with extensive experience in renewable energy, energy efficiency and new energy technologies. His research focus is mainly in electricity generation, transmission and distribution (Low Voltage/High Voltage in The Gambia and overseas. He is the first to conduct feasibility studies on grid connected PV power systems for urban and rural electrification in The Gambia. His expertise also includes technical and financial analysis of energy technologies for residential, commercial and utility scale customers. Dr. Sowe worked with the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy for more than a decade involving collaborating with international and local stakeholders (Ministries, Departments, Utility companies, Independent Power Producers, SMEs, Solar companies, Local Government Organisations, Municipalities and Councils) in the Energy Sector. He serves as an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of The Gambia, introducing Renewable Energy Courses to the Department of Arts & Science and School of Environment and Agricultural Science. Dr. Sowe is also a renewable energy consultant and focal person collaborating with national and international organizations like International Energy Charter, International Solar Alliance, World Bank, UNIDO, UNEP, UNDP, UNESCO, International Energy Agency and many others to improve electricity access in The Gambia. Dr. Sowe has experience in the development of curricula for Energy and Renewable Energy in for different categories from Junior Secondary to Vocational/Tertiary and Higher Education.
